Career Counseling
When the world is bound and determined to throw us a curve, we have a special strength to get back up, dust ourselves off and start all over again.
After having been home with my children as they grew up, I decided to explore the outside world. Just before we moved to Arizona from Wisconsin several years ago, I went back to get a second degree in business. My kids were in school and were finding their way, my husband had been finding his way through the work world for many years, now it was my turn. After experimenting in teaching (again), sales, accounting, I landed in Nursing Home Administration (ugh – well that sure wasn’t for me, and I wasn’t the only one who thought so), Marketing was so much more fun for an expressive personality like me. It even gave me opportunities to become a clown and give parties for the cancer patients. Little did I know, how unstable marketing can be. After three lay offs in 10 years, I started my own successful business and compiled the book, “Laid Off? Don’t Stress! How to Get from Mad to Glad!” I discovered that transitions really can be joyful. I re-invented myself and so can you.
We all ask ourselves, “What Should I Be When I Grow Up.” I can’t tell you how many times I’ve asked that question, but no more. I always knew there was more and then I discovered coaching with an end in view. Do you need to ask yourself the question, What is my reason for my being on this planet? For example, “I’ve always been a nurse in a hospital, but what ELSE could I do to fulfill my desires and passions?” Sometimes it helps just to have an outside person ask questions to draw your passions out and help you look at your life with a different perspective.
